Dartfish 6 Release 5 : Improvements Ready For London 2012

Dartfish 6 release 5 is available today! The continued rapid improvement of Dartfish is again demonstrated with the 5th release in under a year and just in time for our involvement in Olympics (watch this space for future blogs). This update is available free for all Dartfish 6 customers, all you need is an internet connection and the software will update itself!  If you are impatient you can ‘check for updates’ in the ‘Help’ menu.

New Presentation Mode!

For team feedback, a new presentation mode allows you to show full-screen video on a second display, leaving you with full access to Dartfish tools (Windows 7 only).

Tagging (Dartfish Match Analysis) improved again:

  • The Tagging table (matrix) now allows you to cross-reference multiple categories. This will simplify tagging panel design and allow advanced number-crunching, directly from Dartfish.
  • The table (matrix) can now display duration (e.g. possession time) and percentages.
  • Table layouts can be saved and later recalled for rapid access to statistics and the video on which they are based.
  • Data can be represented visually, using data bars and colour scales then saved as an image that can be sent to other team members.
  • Try right-clicking your tagging panel now. A new flat style of button display has been introduced to make it easier to see when buttons are selected under adverse lighting conditions.
  • It is now possible to pause recording when receiving a stream from a DV or HDV source.
  • The player list selector tool can now be used to select up to 5 players. In the macro language, these are referred to in the following way: $(TeamListSelector0.keyword1), $(TeamListSelector0.keyword2), etc. If the category property of this tool is set, the selected player(s) will be recorded as a persistent keyword.
Upload to Dartfish.tv is 5 times faster!
  • This release enables Dartfish 6 to use the H.264 video encoding capabilities of the latest Intel possessors. This makes creation of video for use on smart phones, tablets and dartfish.tv up to five times faster. Be aware that not all computers enable this feature.
  • Repeated file import is now faster because Dartfish will recall the last selected drive and folder.

IP Camera Support

Dartfish 6 Release 5 : Improvements Ready For London 2012An IP camera functions as a web server, streaming video to a network. The connection to your computer is the same as your connection to the internet – via a router or server which might be wired or wireless. Basic models are simple video devices and can cost just a few hundred pounds but some have advanced functionality, such as panning and zooming by remote control. This type of camera offers interesting possibilities for Dartfish users.

Dartfish 6 allows you to stream live video from Axis IP cameras and also offers a generic connection to IP devices using the UDP protocol. To use these devices, additional drivers must be installed and the connection is configured in Tools menu > Options > Network cameras. After configuring and enabling the device, it can be selected for capture in the usual way in the video recorder, Live Tagging or InTheAction.

For further information on the latest release or full details about all of the recent improvements, call us for a chat we’d be happy to tell you all about them.  If you would like to buy Dartfish or upgrade your software to the latest version, please get in touch.
